A free family-friendly Halloween Fun Fest will be taking place on Saturday, October 13 at the Harmony Arboretum from 2-5 p.m. There will be slightly spooky things to do and activity choices to keep all family members busy and active for your visit.
The activities are geared toward younger children so are not frightening, but with a few things that are spooky enough to keep families entertained. Helping maintain the fun, Halloween-like atmosphere, one of the features of the event will be a 4 p.m. costume parade (no judging) for all youth who want to participate. Other activities include pumpkin decorating, a scavenger hunt, games, crafts, livestock experiences, and displays. Concessions will also be available.
All of the day’s activities take place within the friendly fences of the demonstration gardens, making it a safe environment for kids of all ages. The event is sponsored by the Marinette County UW-Extension and Land Information offices and the Northern Lights Master Gardener Volunteers. In addition to all the planned activities, families will be able to experience the children’s, perennial, and herb gardens, along with all the other horticultural demonstration gardens.
An added bonus is the opportunity for families to see and interact with a dairy calf or two, as well as some of the small animal species found on Marinette County farms. Marinette County Dairy Producers are sponsoring this portion of the day’s events, with member farms bringing the animals that will be available. They are also providing string cheese for all attendees and milk for all the youth that complete the scavenger hunt.
The Fun Fest will take place rain or shine, as all the activities can be placed under roof or tent if the weather isn’t quite perfect. Come join us for an evening of ‘spooktacular’ fun and games! There is no fee for the Halloween Family Fun Fest, but please consider bringing non-perishable food items for distribution to our local food pantries.
